6 days sailing tour - group intermediate

Do you carry the dream of crossing the North Sea? Do you have the desire for adventure and willpower and are willing to extend beyond your own comfort zone? Join Explore 62 North on our sailing trip to Shetland. It will be a hefty experience with unity​,​ learning and mastery in focus. It is approx. 200 nautical miles from Måløy to Lerwick so at 5 knots speed we will spend up to 40 hours on the crossing. The sailtrip is therefore intended as a 6-day trip​,​ where we get 2 full days available on Shetland. The sailing boat Westland has started to become the perfect expedition boat and we want to sail slightly longer distances under slightly rougher conditions. It is quite natural to start our expeditions by crossing the North Sea and visiting our friendly town of Lerwick in Shetland. In the long run we have a desire to be able to sail on to Fair Isle and the Orkney Islands. Another sailing route may be further from Lerwick to Torshavn in the Faroe Islands. The ties between Vågsøy and Lerwick have been strong for several years. Måløy and Lerwick have had close relations since before the war​,​ and in November 1990 Vågsøy and Lerwick became friendship municipalities. In Shetland​,​ there has also been a welfare station for fishermen and seafarers. It is now rare for fishing boats from Måløy to pass through Shetland​,​ but Norwegian fishermen have been good customers in Lerwick since the 1960s. Explore 62 North does not offer any guided tours of Shetland​,​ but if desired we can assist with excursions​,​ rental cars​,​ etc. You do not need any special skills to join this trip​,​ but it is an advantage to be a stepfather and in normally good shape. We drive safety instructions and practice man overboard before departure. On board the sailing boat Westland​,​ safety must be ensured. We will bring an inflatable boat​,​ 16-man Viking life raft​,​ life jacket for all guests​,​ EpirB emergency beacon transmitter​,​ AIS emergency beacon transmitter​,​ 2 pcs. VHF where one is portable and possibly joins the fleet​,​ emergency flares​,​ rockets​,​ and buoys with lifeline.
