Escursione in montagna esperienza - intermedio

This is a magnificent and wild itinerary​,​ with multiple route options​,​ offering an unforgettable view thanks to the position of the hill​,​ situated on a sheer ridge between two valleys. Starting from Claviere​,​ we enter the Vallon de Baisses​,​ crossing a suggestive forest along a stream dotted with waterfalls. Once you emerge from the wood​,​ we reach the Sette Fontane locality​,​ where the first settlements are said to have sprung up​,​ giving rise to the village of Claviere. From here​,​ the path divides: to the east​,​ the road leads to the Chaberton pass​,​ but our route goes in the opposite direction​,​ towards the Col de la Lauze​,​ one of the cols of the spectacular Chalvet ridge. Once we reach the col​,​ we will find ourselves immersed in magnificent scenery: the Chaberton behind us and the majestic peaks of the Dauphiné in front of us​,​ with an exceptional view of the highest peak of this massif​,​ the Barre des Écrins​,​ which rises to 4102 meters in altitude. After a well-deserved snack​,​ we enter the wildest part of the route: a circuit around the Pic de Lauzin. From the Col de la Lauze​,​ we continue on a half-hill path towards the Col de la Dormillouse. From here​,​ through a lunar landscape of marmots​,​ junipers and rhododendrons​,​ we face the last ascent of the day to the Col de Trois Freres Mineurs. In this wild area​,​ where only the wind and a breathtaking view will keep us company​,​ the most attentive will be able to admire the edelweiss​,​ a true wonder to contemplate. The experience is in full sauvage style​,​ as our French cousins would say: no telephone reception​,​ no fountains and no beaten path. Return and short stop in Montgenèvre to admire the characteristic stone fountains and the Église Saint Maurice. Return to Claviere along an easy and short cross-border path.
