Hiking level Alpine hiking week Chamonix This hiking tour leads over mountain and forest hiking trails that can sometimes be rocky. You should be able to walk 10-12km per day for 6 days with elevation gains between 500m and 1000m. You do not need to be a great athlete to do this tour​,​ but being in good shape is highly recommended. Depending on the weather conditions and the group​,​ the guide can adapt the hikes. Day 1

Day 1: Arrival at Chamonix You might want to explore the town of Chamonix a bit before meeting the guide and enjoying a welcome dinner and orientation of the tour. Night at Hotel in Chamonix​,​ organised welcome dinner in a local restaurant

Day 2

Day 2: Aiguille du Midi-Montenvers (France) We begin our hike from the Hotel​,​ crossing the town of Chamonix before taking a gondola up to Plan de Midi. Shortly after we’ll reach the Grand Balcon Nord trail. Now above tree line we have fabulous views of the Chamonix granite Aiguilles towering above us. we traverse below these peaks towards the Montenvers railway sitting high above the Mer de Glace glacier. We walk up to a beautiful viewpoint to observe the famous Mer de Glace glacier. A short descend brings us down to Monetenvers. In 1741​,​ the first tourists to Chamonix were transported to Montenvers on the backs of mules in order to admire the glaciers. Today​,​ most travelers take a bright red cog train up the steep slopes to reach the Mer de Glace (Sea of Ice)​,​ the second-largest glacier in the Alps. This train brings us back to town. Day 3

Day 3: Mountain lakes at Aiguilles Rouges natural reserve The Aiguilles Rouges natural reserve which lies north of Chamonix offers beautiful views of the Mont Blanc massif. A telepherique allows us to quickly escape the valley floor for hikes to deep blue mountain lakes. According to the group’s hiking abilities (and the weather forecast)​,​ two hiking options are available: one to Lake Cornu​,​ a five-hour hike with an ascent​/​descent of 1​,​500 feet; or a hike to Lac Blanc​,​ an easier three-hour hike that offers a reduced 600-foot ascent and a 1​,​500-foot descent. Day 4

Day 4: Bella Italia and Bonattis mountain hut​,​ (Italy) Courmayeur (4​,​014′) lies on the Italian side of Mont Blanc and is only a 20′ drive away thanks to the Mont Blanc tunnel. Courmayeur is spectacularly situated beneath the Grand Jorasses and Brenva Glacier. Here the views of Mont Blanc are Himalayan in scale the mountain rises in a breathtaking abruptness from the Veny Valley to the summit 10​,​000 feet above. We’ll hike up to a balcony trail above tree line high above the Ferret valley. This path is also part of the famous Tour du Mont Blanc hike. We will continue to the well-known Bonatti Refuge​,​ which faces the famous peaks and needles of the Grandes Jorasses. A delicious lunch break is well deserved before continuing to the end of the Val Ferret. From here a bus brings us back to Courmayeur and the shuttle to Chamonix for the night. Day 5

Day 5: Chalet Loriaz and Buet valley We take the Mont Blanc express train today to the village of Le Buet at the boarder with Switzerland. Our hike starts with a stroll along the Buet river gorge and to it’s waterfall. After we wind up steeply trough the forest to the beautiful meadows around Chalet Loriaz. Once here we can enjoy a delicious lunch on the terrace before heading down to Vallorcine. The train brings us back to Chamonix for the night. Hike: 10.2km​,​ +582m​,​ -628m Night at Hotel in Chamonix​,​ no organised dinner
